VEGA at GSOC
The German Space Operations Centre
(GSOC) is the central institution for Germany’s Spaceflight
operations. Located near Oberpfaffenhofen, about 20 km west of
Munich, GSOC’s responsibilities include operating satellite
missions for Earth observation, communications, the exploration of
the solar system, and human Spaceflight missions. It is also
responsible for the Galileo Control Centre facilities.
In close co-operation with other DLR (German
Aerospace Agency) institutes, and together with public and
industrial partners, GSOC plays a major role in European
Spaceflight. GSOC’s four main areas of expertise, all of which VEGA
supports, are:
- Mission operations, including human
Spaceflight missions
- Spaceflight technology
- Galileo
- Ground stations and communications
VEGA currently supports the following GSOC
programmes:
- ISS Columbus
- Galileo
- Bird
- Grace
- Champ
- TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X
- SatcomBW
